The trailer features Vijay in a larger-than-life role, known as the “King of Criminals”, as he takes on a gang of goons and emerges undefeated, buoyed by the support of the common people. Despite his huge screen presence, his character repeatedly establishes himself as a normal person guided by strong values and principles.
The story takes an emotional turn when Vijay’s character encourages Mamita Baiju’s character to join the armed forces. However, a brutal attack on him sets off a chain of events that propel him into a relentless pursuit of justice. Bobby Deol leaves a strong impression as the antagonist, issuing a terrifying ultimatum to Vijay as he plans to take him down within 30 days.
The action-packed trailer features Pooja Hegde in key moments, adding emotional depth to the story. Packed with stylish action and full of political undertones, the 2 minute and 52 second trailer ends on an upbeat note, with Vijay announcing his comeback and leading to an explosive face-off.
About Jan Nayakan
Directed by H Vinoth and supported by Anirudh Ravichander’s powerful music, Jana Nayakan also stars Pooja Hegde, Priyamani, Mameetha Baiju and Bobby Deol in lead roles. The film is set for a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026, just before Makar Sankranti and Pongal.
During the film’s audio launch event in Malaysia, Vijay officially announced his decision to move away from cinema. He said, “When I came into films, I thought I was building a small sand house. But you all built a palace for me. The fans helped me build a fort. So I have decided to stand up for them. The fans who left everything for me, I am leaving cinema only.”
In February last year, Vijay had launched Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, announcing his intention to contest the 2026 elections. He later addressed his supporters at the party’s first major convention in Vikravandi in October, where he outlined his political vision and ideology.
Jana Nayagan will face stiff competition at the box-office, competing with other major releases like Prabhas’s The Raja Saab and Sivakarthikeyan’s Parashakti, which is scheduled to release in theaters on January 10.
