Janet Jackson has recently come under fire for her controversial remarks about Kamala Harris. In an interview with The Guardian last week, the 58-year-old singer challenged the vice president’s racial identity, saying, “She’s not black.” Amid her failed PR effort to resolve the crisis, Page Six insiders have alleged that Janet’s career is largely controlled by her brother Randy.

The scandal began on Saturday, when Janet said she heard Harris was “Indian” and “not black.” “Her father is white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a couple of days. I was told they found out her father was white,” the All For You singer claimed.
Her comments sparked outrage as the Democratic presidential candidate’s parents are immigrants from Jamaica and India. In 2020, Harris made history by becoming the first Black and South Asian female vice president of the United States.

Sources close to Janet told Page Six that her unfounded claims about Harris could cause major problems for her, and tarnish her reputation as a hero for marginalized groups.
“How can she sing about ‘Rhythm Nation’ and make comments like that? It doesn’t even sound like her. She’s so organized. I don’t know why she did that,” an insider said, adding that she “doesn’t really watch the news anymore. She lives in a bubble.”
Janet became the subject of strong criticism online shortly after questioning Harris’ race, with comedian DL Hughley taking aim at her, saying, “It’s a little ironic that you question someone being black while breathing out of a white woman’s nose!”

A day after the Together Again singer’s interview with The Guardian was published, a man named Mo Elmasry issued an apology on her behalf to BuzzFeed. However, Janet’s representatives told NBC News on Monday that the apology was “unofficial.”
Sources told Page Six that Janet found out about the backlash over her comments while partying in Paris with her team, including designer Christian Siriano. “Janet and Randy’s attitude was to just let it rest. They weren’t planning on addressing it,” an insider said.
,[Randy’s] Her legacy is being harmed because she is not understanding. She is giving Randy control, and no one understands how he is managing her when she has never had a career. She pays for everything,” a second source told the outlet, also adding that Janet’s brother is a “Trump supporter and conspiracy theorist.” “Janet’s bubble is small, and she listens to Randy. She indulges in conspiracy theories.”
