Mumbai: Filmmaker Neeraj Gaywan’s film ‘Homebound’ has been selected as India’s official entry for Oscar 2026.
Producer Karan Johar took on Instagram on Friday evening and thanked the Film Federation of India (FFI) for choosing ‘Homebound’ for representing India at the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

Director Neeraj Gaywan also expressed his excitement.
In a statement, he shared, “I am deeply honored that homebound has been chosen as India’s official entry in the Oscar. Ghaywan’s ‘Homebound’ revolves around two childhood friends from a small northern Indian village, which chases a police job that promises him the dignity he has denied for a long time. Director Neeraj Gaywan described ‘Homebound’ as “a deep personal story about friendship, dignity and existence”.
