According to the outlet, “It seemed as if Star’s staff was initially trying to hide the fact that the award was unaccounted for.”
“I don’t think anyone wanted to tell me,” Leto said, “but I moved house in L.A. and then when we moved, it somehow magically disappeared.”
The actor said, “It could be anywhere, but everyone has searched for it high and low… I hope wherever it is, it’s in good hands. We haven’t seen it for a long time.”
When asked if it would have been taken, Leto shared, “I think it’s a good possibility… It’s not something that someone would accidentally throw in the trash.”
But he shared positively, “I hope someone is taking care of it. I remember the night I got it, I gave it to several people… It was beaten and scratched , but people had fun taking pictures with it so it’s nice to share it, so hopefully someone is taking good care of it.”
Recently, Leto posted a few pictures on his Instagram handle, in which he can be seen holding the Oscar and captioned it, “Got my Oscar.”
As Page Six reports, he is touring with his band and has two more shows in Dubai and Saudi Arabia this year.
Jared won an Oscar for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club. The biographical drama film was written by Craig Borton and Melissa Wallach, and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée. It also starred Matthew McConaughey, who won a Best Actor Oscar for the same film.
