Screen writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar condemned the terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam and urged the government to take a “solid, fixed step” to address the situation. Talk to ANI On the banks of ‘IP and Music: Feel the Beat’ seminar, Akhtar strongly criticized Pakistan’s alleged participation in the recent terror attack.

He said that the recurring tension between India and Pakistan is unavoidable due to a series of terrorist attacks over the years. “There is stress, how can it not happen? If such things happen, and after a few days, you see what will happen every year or two years, if there is no stress, what will happen, what will happen? How can it not happen?” Akhtar said.
He questioned the possible existence of terrorist organizations in Pakistan and alleged that the attackers would have fled to the neighboring country, which shared a border with India. “Millions of times he has said that he has no establishment, that we have no connection. Is it reliable that such people can come here, and do it in this way, and then where did they go? Did they run away and leave for Germany? We do not get their limits from Germany. We don’t know where they went,” He said.
Akhtar also expressed disbelief on what the terrorists had expected to achieve innocent citizens by targeting. “So to say that we have no connection, it’s not confident. What are you doing? What will you get from it? What will they get? What will I get?

He called upon the government to take firm and permanent action instead of fading the issue over time. “And why do you do this? And how long does it last? After a few days, people forget. But this time, the government takes some concrete, definite steps, that it should be told to the establishment of Pakistan, that it will not do,” he concluded.
The attack in Pahgam is the deadliest in Jammu and Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama strike, killing 40 CRPF personnel. Following the Pahalgam incident, India has taken strong measures against Pakistan for alleged support for cross -border terrorism.
