Javed Akhtar turned 80 on January 17. The legendary screenwriter celebrated his birthday with family and friends. Pictures of the event were shared by Urmila Matondkar on Instagram.
The opening frame showed the actress gifting a plant to Javed Akhtar. It also had glimpses of Urmila’s conversation with Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan. Aamir Khan, Shankar Mahadevan, Farhan Akhtar, Shibani Dandekar and Shabana Azmi were also seen singing “Happy Birthday” for Javed Akhtar.
In the caption, Urmila Matondkar wrote, “It was a great day..with some of the best talent of our industry!! An afternoon filled with love, laughter, affection, appreciation and great camaraderie because it was someone special’s birthday.” Very special for all of us.. Earlier, Shabana Azmi had shared the photo of the cake Javed Akhtar got from Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur. The cake paid tribute to his most iconic films, including the screenwriter’s cinder, Wall And prideIn this, Javed’s face was superimposed on the characters of these great films. A message written on the cake read, “A man of character.”
Sharing the picture, Shabana Azmi wrote, “Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Vidya Balan’s gift to Javed on his birthday. Look carefully at the cake. It has Javed’s face among the characters.”
Shankar Mahadevan also shared pictures from Javed Akhtar’s birthday celebrations. In the first picture, he and his wife Sangeeta were seen posing with Javed Akhtar. In the next slide, this couple is seen standing with Amitabh Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
