Jennifer Garner reveals what training for a Marvel movie is like
The Daredevil star explained in the lengthy caption that she was fit while shooting Elektra in 2005, but that same fitness would not be enough for a Marvel film. Garner also recalled the moment when her co-star Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy approached her with the idea of bringing back Elektra.
“We were on the set of ‘The Adam Project,’ and gave each other a look that could communicate an idea, 20 pages of dialogue, nuclear codes — there’s a crazy artistic knack between those two,” Garner wrote, adding, “Aside from trying to convince my kids’ preschool friends that I was secretly a ninja, I hadn’t picked up Elektra’s Sais since 2004; I was fit, but not Marvel fit.”
The Family Switch actress further added that she incorporated a variety of exercises and sports to get fit for the superhero role. “I didn’t know that Elektra and I needed an ending, but Sean and Ryan needed one. They are brilliant in so many ways, but looking out for and uplifting the people around them is at the top of the list,” she added.
Garner then expressed her gratitude to her “old friends” Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum and Wesley Snipes. “It was so much fun shooting the fight, all being there together – like a dream really. I’m so proud of my friends and grateful to be there with them. Guys, thank you isn’t enough, but this is a good placeholder until I figure out what to do,” she said.
