The song means Change the Step in English, and its lyrics are empowering. In the video, Lopez is seen dancing on the beach wearing denim shorts and a beautiful bikini top. She posted the clip with the caption, “Happy anniversary Cambia El Paso.”

In the track, which was co-written by Rauw Alejandro, she sings lyrics like, “Her life is better now without him … She don’t need nobody to be okay / She won’t fail, she won’t fail,” and “He doesn’t deserve to have her in his arms.”

However, the On the Floor hitmaker only shared the pre-chorus and chorus, where she sings, “Uno, dos, tres, uno, dos tres, avanza,” which translates to “one, two, three, move on” and “she just wanna dance, dance, dance, dance.”

At the time of the summer bop’s release, Lopez explained the deeper meaning behind its lyrics on SiriusXM’s Pitbull Globalization. “This song is about change and not being afraid to take steps. Like, just take the step, move forward, do what you want to do,” the Marry Me star said.

“If something doesn’t feel right, no matter what it is in your life, just take that step and dance,” Lopez continued, adding that dance means “life and joy and happiness” to her. “So, whenever I’m talking about dance … I’m talking about something else. You have to be yourself; you have to be happy,” she said in a 2021 interview.
