The actor played IMF agent William Brandt in 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Happy Sad Confused PodcastJeremy told host Josh Horowitz that starring in the franchise means being away from his daughter for long periods of time.
Big time commitment
“I wanted to do more with them. I love those guys. I love Tom. We had a lot of fun, and I love that character. It requires a lot of time. It’s all in London. I had to be a dad. It wasn’t going to work then. Maybe now that my daughter is older it can happen. I always jump into Mission: Impossible and back into Brandt. It’s great,” Jeremy.
He recalled an incident when he yelled at director Christopher McQuarrie for having a floating idea to kill off his character.
“I remember he tried to get me to come over[seas] He said, “They put me in jail for a week so they could kill off my character, and I said, ‘No, you can’t do that. You can’t drag me in there and just kill my character,’ like get out of here. If you’re going to do this and you’re going to use my character, you’ve got to do it the right way.”
At the time of Rogue Nation’s release, there were rumors that the studio was considering him to take over the franchise from Tom. However, Jeremy dismissed these claims, saying they were not true.
Jeremy said it has always been Tom’s show, and it would be his decision to leave the franchise or change the story.
