Recalling the moment he was discharged from the military, Jin said he was “crying” and “very overwhelmed.” He said he even “had to salute here and there.”
BTS member Jin has shared why his group members RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook were jealous of him. In conversation with Weavers MagazineJin also talked about ‘Typical Namjoon’ playing dynamite on his saxophone when he was recently discharged from the South Korean military service. Jin talked about Namjoon crying when he was discharged from the military
Jin reacted to RM, aka Kim Namjoon, playing Dynamite as he greeted him. He said, “I didn’t even realize he was playing next to me, and I only realized the song being played was Dynamite when I saw the video later. I was an assistant drill sergeant, so I was always used to hearing the saxophone in army band recordings, like at discharge and enlistment ceremonies. So when I heard the music playing, I assumed it was the same discharge music as usual. I was crying, and I had to salute here and there because there were reporters there, and I was so overwhelmed that I didn’t know anything. Then I turned around and saw Namjoon and was like, ‘Huh?’ It was typical Namjoon, but he was wearing something really weird! (laughs) It was like, “What? Anyway, thanks for coming. Okay, Namjoon, come on, come on.”
Jin revealed that other BTS members were jealous of him
He talked about the members’ reactions to being the first to enlist and the first to leave the group. Jin explained, “Yeah, but people kept telling me they were so jealous, and the people in the management team who are always around me told me they’ve never seen such a genuine look of jealousy in their eyes. They said they all had that look on their faces. So I didn’t brag about it or anything, I just teased them a lot. It was great to see them get so excited about it. I kept it up for about 30 minutes.”
About the gin
Jin, whose full name is Kim Seok-jin, officially began his service on December 13, 2022. He was the first of the seven BTS members to enlist in the army. He was discharged from military service on June 12 this year. Following this, J-Hope will be released from the army more than three months later. The rest of the members will be released from service in 2025.
