Joaquin Phoenix was present at the Venice Film Festival press conference for Joker: Folie a Do, where he talked about preparing for the role.
Joker Foley A is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga and director Todd Phillips were at the Venice Film Festival for the film’s world premiere, five years after the original film won the top prize at the festival. At the press conference, Joaquin talked about the extreme weight loss, and said it was ‘more difficult’ this time, according to a report Diversity report. What did Joaquin say?
During the press conference, Joaquin talked about his weight loss to look slimmer to play Arthur Fleck and said, “I’m not going to go into great detail about the diet, because I think nobody wants to hear that. But this time, it felt a little more complicated because we were doing a lot of dance rehearsals, which I didn’t do last time. So it felt a little more difficult, but it’s safe. But you’re right, I’m 49 now, I probably shouldn’t do it again. Maybe that’s it for me.”

Joker: Folie à Deux stars Joaquin Phoenix in his role as the supervillain, while Lady Gaga plays his love interest Harley Quinn. The trailer revealed that the film picks up where the first film ended, with the Joker now in Arkham Asylum. It is here that the Joker meets Harley, a woman who becomes attached to the Joker the moment she sees him smile. The couple embark on dangerous adventures. Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lofty also star in the sequel.
The original 2019 film, Joker, was supposed to be a standalone movie, but the R-rated film was critically and commercially successful, and grossed over a billion dollars globally.
Warner Bros is all set to release Joker: Foley A Two in theatres on October 4, 2024.
