Mumbai: John Abraham is a self-made man in the industry. He never had a godfather but he became one by giving new actors the opportunities they were looking for. John gave Ayushmann Khurrana his first break in Vicky Donor. John was recently seen in Veda opposite actress Sharvari Wagh, the film did not do as well as expected and Stree 2 is making waves at the box office. John is still a very secure actor and says he doesn’t need anyone from the industry for his survival.
Recalling his early days in Bollywood, the actor claimed that when he entered the industry as an actor, he only had Rs 550 in his bank account. Speaking on his appearance on Aap Ki Adalat in 2019, John said, “I still remember, when I started in the industry, I only had Rs 550 in my Bank of Maharashtra account. Just Rs 550. And my salary at that time was Rs 4,800. I am talking about 2003. Given where I have come from, all I want is to move forward on my own terms and live on my own terms. I don’t need anyone else’s support. John Abraham is an individual, he is not anyone’s friend or foe.”
In a recent interview on Ranveer Allahabadia’s show, John said, “I don’t want to create a wrong impression, but every piece of clothing I own can fit in a suitcase. I don’t have too many clothes and I like to keep it simple. I usually wear chappals. I drive a pick-up truck,” he said, adding that his elderly parents still use public transport. “My mother is 74 and my father is 12 years older than her; he’s 86. Even today they only have a small car and they mostly travel by autos and buses. I’m not saying this to create an impression, but I have middle-class values ​​and that’s my biggest quality.”
