Johnny Depp to be honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at Rome Film Festival

Modi, which portrays the “whirlwind of seventy-two hours” in the life of bohemian artist Amedeo Modigliani, is based on the artist’s turbulent experiences amid the backdrop of war-torn Paris in 1916. The film also stars French actors Antonia Desplat and Riccardo Scamarcio.

The film’s synopsis depicts the struggles of Modigliani, who finds himself on the run from the police. As he contemplates ending his career and leaving the city, he faces resistance from fellow artists Maurice Utrillo, Chaim Soutine, and his muse Beatrice Hastings.

According to Deadline, while receiving guidance from his friend and art dealer Leopold Zborowski, Modigliani’s night of hallucinations intensifies, resulting in his pivotal meeting with American collector Maurice Gangnat, which has the potential to change the direction of his life.

After his first appearance at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Modi is set for his next appearance in Rome. According to Deadline, Viggo Mortensen will also be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival, where he will be screening his film The Dead Don’t Hurt.

The story follows the journey of Vivienne Le Coudy, played by Vicky Krieps, as she navigates a complicated relationship with Danish immigrant Holgen Olsen (played by Mortensen). Their love story unfolds against the tumultuous backdrop of the American Civil War in the 1860s.

The 2024 edition of the Rome Film Festival is scheduled to be held from October 16 to 27.
