In an interview TMZJonathan Majors expressed his disappointment at the news that Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will replace his character, Kang the Conqueror, as the main villain in the upcoming film. avengers The change is a significant shift in the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), leaving Majors feeling sidelined.

Major, who was supposed to be the next major antagonist in the MCU after establishing Kang in previous films, was dropped by Marvel in December. The decision coincides with his conviction on two felony counts of harassment and assault. The now-removed Kang was expected to take center stage in the Avengers: The Kang Dynastywhich has been replaced by a party led by Downey Avengers: Doomsday,
when asked TMZ Regarding his feelings towards this new direction, Majors replied candidly, “Yeah, heartbroken. Of course. I like Kang. Doctor Doom is evil, though”. He also commented that the favoritism Marvel has shown towards Downey reflects the leniency given to the actor despite his past legal issues. Downey was arrested several times in the late 90s for drug possession and other legal troubles before he was given the chance to play the iconic role of Tony Stark. iron Man,

“I think it’s fitting that Mr. Downey is being, and has been, greeted with patience, curiosity and love… more [he’s] being allowed to work [his] “Art and being creative on that level is so important. I didn’t understand that,” Majors said.
Despite his legal troubles and subsequent exit from the MCU, Majors is excited to reprise his role as Kang. When asked if he would return if he had the chance, he emphatically replied, “Absolutely yes! Absolutely yes! I love him. I love Kang. If that’s what the fans want, and that’s what Marvel wants, then let’s get going. Absolutely yes”.
Major’s arrest in March 2023, following allegations of assault and harassment by his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, led to his legal issues. Although acquitted of some charges, the incident resulted in him losing the representation of his talent manager and publicist.
Meanwhile, Downey’s return to the MCU was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, in which he will be seen in the role of Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday in 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars In 2027.
