Various film bodies in the Malayalam film industry will hold a protest against the regional office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Thiruvananthapuram on 30 June 2025, protesting against the “arbitrary film certification” adopted by the board. The film’s makers accused CBFC of delay in issuing the censor certificate to the film after contacting the Kerala High Court.
Long -term solution sought
Shri Annikrishnan said that a “long -term solution” was required to remove confusion on the guidelines prescribed by the board. Many films released earlier in Malayalam had a character called ‘Janaki’. He said that there is a question on what has happened between and now to keep such a name in mind.
Renji Panikar, president of the associations of directors affiliated with FeFka, said that when the characters could be the status of “Number to be given” numbers instead of names.
“Any name given to a character in a film can be disputed because it can be associated with a religion. Political parties cannot stay away from addressing such a serious issue,” he said.
Delayed release
Film release JSK , Janaki vs Kerala State, The Union Minister Suresh Gopi starring, who was initially planned on 27 June, has been delayed by the ongoing line.
