Junaid Khan, who starred in the recently released film, Maharaj‘ has received good response from the audience. Maharaj This book throws light on one of India’s most important legal battles, the Maharaja Defamation Case of 1862, and highlights the life of social reformer Karsandas Mulji.
during a conversation ANIJunaid shared how he was inspired by the story of Karsandas Mulji, “He was a real person who was talking about things in 1862 that are still happening today. It happens in today’s society even today. And it happens in every society. And he was fighting for it in that era. So I found this character and story very inspiring, that there is a man who had so much understanding at that time.”
Talking about what attracted him to the script, he said, “I have been acting in plays since 2017 and have also been called for auditions for films. Siddharth sir and Aditya (Chopra) sir called me after seeing my audition. When I heard the story, I really liked it.”
Talking about his emotional roller coaster ride of the film release, director Siddharth P Malhotra said, “When I saw his play I was impressed by his (Junaid) character. It was released 4-5 years ago. It was a Gujarati play. His play is being directed by Vipul Mehta who is the director of this play and co-writer of this film. When I saw the play I said this is the story of a journalist. He lived in Baikal.

He was a social activist. He always stood up for the right things. Things that were considered wrong at that time, but are right today. So I said, this is the story of an unsung hero that needs to be told.”
Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) Entertainment, the film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey, with Sharvari in a special appearance. Maharaj It faced difficulties for a while after the Gujarat High Court put a temporary stay on its release. However, the stay was lifted, after which YRF expressed gratitude through an official statement.
