Fans of Junji Ito have been eagerly awaiting the anime adaptation of his iconic horror manga for a long time. UzumakiAnd the wait is finally about to end. The much-anticipated series is set to premiere on Adult Swim later this year, as Ito revealed in a recent interview. Ito revealed that the first episode of the four-part miniseries has been completed and that it meets his high standards. He said, “I’m very happy with the first episode,” and expressed high expectations for the rest of the episodes.
UzumakiCo-produced by Adult Swim and anime studio Production I.G., known for their work on Ghost in the Shellhas faced multiple delays. Originally scheduled for release in 2020 on Toonami, the project was postponed to 2021, then further pushed to October 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In June 2022, another indefinite delay was announced, leaving fans uncertain about its future.
The anime’s official Twitter account addressed the delay, emphasizing a commitment to quality. “As much as we want to get this show to the public as soon as possible, we don’t want to compromise its quality by delivering a mediocre final product,” the statement said. “We are fully committed to completing this work at the highest caliber.”
