Justin Timberlake can’t hold back his emotions. The singer’s night in custody ended on a sour note. Timberlake, who was arrested for drunk driving, reportedly remained pretty composed throughout his time with police. Despite saying he only had “one drink and it wasn’t a wild night,” he was detained overnight after failing a sobriety test and refusing a breathalyzer. Timberlake, 43, had been partying late into the night in Sag Harbor, New York’s Long Island with friends before deciding to drive drunk on June 18.
Justin Timberlake was ‘terrified’ while in custody
“When he was in custody, he was terrified and up all night,” a source told People on June 21. “He is insisting he only had one drink and it wasn’t a wild night,” they said, trying to explain his situation.
Earlier, a young police officer who took Timberlake into custody did not recognize him and reportedly did not understand what the singer meant when he mumbled that the arrest would “ruin his world tour.” According to the arrest report, Timberlake told his arresting officer after being stopped, “I had a martini and followed my friends home.”

Justin Timberlake was stopped by police for driving under the influence (DWI) when they observed him driving in his own lane, allegedly ignoring a stop sign. Officers thought he might be intoxicated, and when Timberlake did not pass a roadside intoxication test and refused to take a Breathalyzer, they arrested him. There are reports that Timberlake began showing signs of panic while being taken into police custody and the night he was booked into jail.
“His eyes were red and glassy, he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, he was unable to concentrate, his speech was slurred, his feet were unsteady, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” the report states.
