What is the story of the movie ‘Kakuda’?
The story of the film is about a village called ‘Ratauri’ where every house has two doors for the last 50 years. The first one is the main gate which is used by common people and the second gate is much smaller than the first one which has to be opened every Tuesday at 7.15 pm and one has to sit at the gate. A house whose door is found closed is struck by a ‘Kakuda’ and a large hump appears on the back of the man of that house. The person dies within 13 days of the appearance of the hump. The villagers have become so accustomed to all this that as soon as a hump is seen on the back, people start preparing for the person’s last rites and the thirteenth day.
In the village of Rataudi lives a boy named Sunny (Saqib Salim) who falls in love with Indra (Sonakshi Sinha). Indira lives in another village and does not believe in ghosts. Indu’s father is a master and is looking for a boy for his daughter who speaks English well. But Indu loves Sunny who is a sweetie by profession. When the wedding doesn’t work, Indu and Sunny decide to elope and get married, but the date and time fixed by Pandit ji for the wedding falls on a Tuesday and ‘Kakura’ comes every Tuesday. For which one has to wait by opening the small door of the house.
Sunny, his friend Kilvish (Aasif Khan) and Indu decide that on the day of the wedding, Sunny will give the responsibility of sitting at the door to his father to avoid the curse of ‘Kakuda’ and the wedding will be an auspicious day. Can also be on. But the story takes a twist when Sunny learns that her father is going on a pilgrimage. Under pressure from Indu, Sunny takes a risk and goes to another village for marriage. The marriage is hastily completed and Sunny rushes to his village, but he is late and at 7.15 he is unable to open the door of the house, resulting in the curse of ‘Kakuda’ falling on him and Sunny’s back. Also on The hump comes out.
Indu, who is an educated girl and believes in science, is adamant that she will go to Delhi to get Sunny treated and her husband treated. But the shock comes when Sunny’s hump reappears in the same place the day after the surgery. Now Indu decides to seek the help of a ghost hunter named Victor (Riteish Deshmukh) whom she meets in the same hospital. Will Victor and Indu be able to save Sunny together? If yes, how? And who is this Kakuda who is giving such a painful death to the villagers? What is the story of this ghost named Kakuda? You will get the answers to these questions in the film.
What are the positive points of the film?
The film has been shot at amazing locations and the background music is also amazing. Director Aditya Sarpotdar’s experience with horror comedy films is evident and he has beautifully balanced the emotions of fear and comedy. The jump scare scenes are not forced and look completely justified wherever they are included. VFX is used sparingly but perfectly in the film. All the actors including Sonakshi Sinha, Ritesh Deshmukh and Saqib Salim have done their job well. There are only a few songs in the film but they provide fun amidst the intense story. Overall ‘Kakuda’ is a great theater material movie that you can sit down and enjoy with the whole family.
What are the negative points of the film?
Aditya Sarpotdar did not shy away from mentioning some of the film’s negative points, but given the trend these days, the film’s ending leaves scope for the sequel. The first part has been very strong but will the story be as strong in the second part? The film leaves some questions about the story stuck in the mind, but most of the curiosity is satisfied by the end. There is a possibility that the makers have saved some things for the next part.
