Mumbai: The recently released science-fiction film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is making a splash at the box office. The film stars Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan, Tamil cinema veteran Kamal Haasan, Telugu superstar Prabhas and Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone among many other stars.
According to film trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film on Monday crossed the Rs 600-crore mark at the worldwide box office and has grossed approximately Rs 625 crore globally.
The film’s total collection in India is Rs 343.6 crore, with Telugu speaking regions contributing the most. The film has earned Rs 182 crore in Telugu states. According to industry tracker Sakanilak, the Hindi circuit is the second largest market, with a collection of Rs 128 crore.
The film’s night show occupancy has seen a slight drop in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada regions. The 3D night show occupancy in Telugu region was 55.43 percent on the 5th day, while the night show occupancy in Tamil region was 28.14 percent and Hindi region witnessed 47.28 percent occupancy in theatres.
After a lull of six months, Kalki 2898 AD has brought relief in terms of big collections at the ticket windows.
After earning Rs 800 crore, this film will become the first blockbuster of the year.
