Creator of thug Life A petition has been filed before the Karnataka High Court to demand the release of the upcoming Tamil film in the state.
Gangster drama, starring Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, is set to hit screen on the world on June 05, 2025. The film’s release in Karnataka is limited due to a controversial statement by Kamal Haasan.

According to a report by the Bar and Bench, a co-producer of the production house Ragkamal Films International starring by actor Kamal Haasan has filed a petition against a boyat call at Karnataka HC.

During the audio launch of thugs life in Chennai on 24 May, Kamal Haasan made a comment that “Tamil gave birth to Kannada.” The actor’s statement criticized him in a line, with the people of Karnataka, including Kannada groups and BJP, for harming his feelings.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has demanded an apology to an experienced actor for his controversial remarks on Kannada. The film Chamber has decided not to screen thug Life In Karnataka until the actor’s apology.
Ragkamal films have said that this statement was incorrectly taken and excluded from reference, and Kamal Haasan’s comments were to express love and camel between the people of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka according to the bar and bench. The banner argued that the comment was made by the actor expressing his praise for the Kannada superstar Shivarjkumar, who insisted that Kamal Haasan always used to organize Kannada in high relation.
This petition says that Kamal Haasan’s remarks have been misunderstood, resulting in back from Karnataka.
