Kan 2025: Neeraj Gaywan hugs Karan Johar as a ‘homebound’.

Neeraj Gaywan’s latest film Homebound The 2025 Cannes Film Festival was premiered under some UN honor segment, which depicts nine -minute standing ovation from the audience. The screening marked a emotional moment for the director, which hugged the manufacturer Karan Johar for a long time because the crowd responded with constant applause.

The film is the only Indian facility selected in Cannes this year. Artists including Ishaan Khatar, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa were present at the premiere with the crew. He was seen accepting the appreciation of the audience after the screening.

In a small village in North India, Homebound Follows the story of two childhood friends, who are preparing for police recruitment, as a way to avoid their circumstances. As their dream begins, the surface of stress, threatens their relationship. Ghaywan wrote the script with Sumit Roy.

In a statement shared before the premiere, Ghaywan said, “The film taught me humility, sympathy and patience. Casting showed me that the actors need to be more than only talented, they also need to be morally connected to their character.”

Ten years after his first film Masuan Premier in Cannes, Ghaywan returns to the festival with a film that similarly investigates social structures and personal aspirations. On his working process, he said, “I believe in cooperation and is a democratic crew. Inclusion is fundamental: My goal is to include at least 50% of women for every department and I appoint people of marginalized communities.”

The film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonwal, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra, with Marizke de Suja and Melita Toscan du plant-maker as co-producers. The Academy Award winning director Martin Scoresi is credited as an executive manufacturer.

Ghaywan, while talking about his approach to emotionally intensive scenes, said that he uses a system called “Code 360” to create a concentrated and respectable environment on the set. “This is completely silent, the appropriate environment music and minimum people on the set,” he said.

On working with his artists, Ghaywan said, “If I make a film again, I will choose the same artist, no question. He brought deep sympathy and important thinking for his roles.”

Janhvi Kapoor prepared for her role by reading Anopastaris of caste And watching movies like Rosetta And Three colors: blueGhaywan described his depiction as “a real tenderness and moral clarity”.

Considering what the audience expect from the film, Ghaywan said, “Importance of kindness and sympathy, especially to those who are different from us. Looking at others equally.”
