New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut reacted to actor Annu Kapoor’s comments regarding the recent controversy where Ranaut was allegedly slapped by CISF jawan Kulwinder Kaur.
Kapoor initially expressed ignorance about Ranaut’s identity during a press conference held for his film Hamare Barha, but later commented on societal attitudes towards successful women.
The BJP MP from Mandi took to his Instagram stories to share a clip of the press conference and wrote, “Do you agree with Annu Kapoor ji that we hate a successful woman, hate her more if she is beautiful and hate her even more if she is powerful? Is it true?”
When Kapoor was asked about the incident, he said, “Who is this Kangana ji? Please tell me who she is? Obviously, if you are asking, she must be some big heroine. Is she beautiful?”
When told that Ranaut is now an elected MP from Mandi, he said, “She is beautiful and that is where we are jealous because we are very good…people. And then we are powerful. You are saying that an officer slapped her? So she should definitely be punished.”
The incident took place on June 6 at around 3.30 pm at the Chandigarh airport, when Kangana was about to board a flight to Delhi to attend a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting.
Kangana was allegedly slapped by a CISF woman constable while she was on her way to Delhi for the NDA meeting.
An FIR was registered against the constable under sections 321 and 341 of the IPC, but no arrest has been made.
