Many people do not know that Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Manmarzian’ was initially filmed with a separate artists before being re -introduced with Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Topasi Pannu. The 2018 romantic drama may not have been a box office success, but it was well received by critics.
In a recent interview with the screen, writer-producer Kanika Dhillon opened about the challenges behind making the film, leaving the midway to the actors, resulting in a complete change of the project.

Kanika Dhillon revealed that she wrote to the film four years ago that it was actually done and that it was a long battle to get it on the board.
“The first major step to find you as a writer to find a voice in the industry. I was working on Manmarzia when I was not so strong. It took me 4-5 years to get the film Greenlite, write it, write it again, write it and make it. It was my biggest challenge so far,” he shared. “
The author said that it was also difficult to keep the story relevant for years. “Love stories can be meaningless, and you have to keep updating your characters. While waiting for someone to listen and make a story, I kept working on it. Manmarzia remains the most challenging film for me.”
Why the film had to be made again
Dhilan also revealed that Manmarzia had to resume with a new artists after the original actors left.
He said, “The film started, then stopped the midway, and was resumed with a separate set of actors. Many people were hesitant to play these roles because they felt that the audience would not accept them,” he explained.
He said more in detail that some character dynamics made actors reluctant to take roles.
“It seemed very risky for him that the husband Rumi and the lover were supporting the commitment-fibic. While casting, I had to face a lot of insecurity from the actors. Finally, the people who played these roles were best for him. It was like choosing Destiny.”
