The History of Kanye West’s Malibu Mansion
The Vultures album-maker bought the home for $57 million in 2021. The place, which has views of the Pacific Ocean from every room, has since had all of its interior fittings removed. In June, the once-luxuriant home was reported to be suffering from rusty railings and a state of disrepair after it was abandoned in June.
In the lawsuit obtained by the outlet, Tony Saxon, who claimed to work as a project manager in September 2021, allegedly came on board as a full-time security guard and live-in caretaker for the home. He appears to have informed West of the numerous safety hazards that existed in the home, including “laborers unsafely demolishing various parts of the home without any safety equipment.”

Saxon was reportedly fired from his job in November 2021 after he refused to “engage in unlawful conduct or activity that could cause bodily injury to him,” with West allegedly telling him, “If you don’t obey me, you will no longer work for me, I will no longer be your friend and you will only see me on TV.” Saxon also alleges he was forced to work 16-hour shifts a day and sleep in “makeshift conditions” on the floor using his coat as a bed. West reportedly ignored his complaints.
Ye’s Malibu residence has 4,000 feet of interior space, four bedrooms, five bathrooms and nearly 1,500 square feet of outdoor living area. Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando designed it.

Despite its current uninhabited state and missing walls, the Selling Sunset star promoted the place as “a unique home for a unique and discerning buyer,” reports TMZ. Despite being a blank canvas, Oppenheim admitted it was a privilege to sell the residence designed by acclaimed architect Tadao Ando, who has worked on no fewer than 20 homes in the US (including Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s $200 million Malibu estate).
