Reaction to Coldplay Mumbai concert ticket sale
“Due to overwhelming demand, a third Mumbai date has been added on January 21, 2025 at DY Patil Stadium. Ticket sales start today at 2pm IST,” Coldplay said on X along with the booking link.
According to reports, the BookMyShow website and app servers crashed on Sunday as the sale for the British band’s concert next year began. Soon, the hashtags ‘Coldplay’, ‘BookMyShow’ and ‘Crashed’ started trending on X.
Coldplay had already announced two shows at the DY Patil Sports Stadium on January 18 and 19, 2025. Many fans shared screenshots of their frozen computer screens and smartphones, with the app seeing a lot of traffic.
According to BookMyShow, tickets for the two shows scheduled to be held at Mumbai’s DY Patil Sports Stadium on January 18 and 19, 2025 were scheduled to go on sale at 12 noon. Many said that tickets were not available for booking even after 12.15 pm. A BookMyShow spokesperson called it a “historic moment” in the history of live entertainment in India as they witnessed genuine fan following, immense love and incredible excitement on the platform for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025 in India.
According to the spokesperson, 1.3 crore fans logged in to buy tickets on Sunday. Later, BookMyShow warned fans about unauthorised platforms selling tickets for the Coldplay India tour. “It has come to our attention that unauthorised platforms are listing tickets for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025 in India, both before and after the official sale.
“These tickets are illegal. Ticket scalping is illegal in India and punishable by law. Please do not fall prey to this as you may be buying fake tickets. Avoid fraud! BookMyShow is the only official platform for ticket sales,” the platform said on Twitter.
