Kareena Kapoor called Prada to copy Kolhapuri Chappell, left a kissing comment

Mumbai: Actress Kareena Kapoor, on Sunday, took a luxury fashion brand on social media to imitate the traditional Kolhapuri chappal designs.

The actress shared a picture wearing her OG Kolhapuri chappal, as she had subtle a digging in the brand. Taking his Instagram stories, Bebo posted an image of his Kolhapuri chapels and captioned it, “Sorry Prada … but my Oog Kolhapuri.” Kareena kept her face out of the frame, so that her stylish Kolhapuri chappals could do all the things.

A few days after Kareena Kapoor’s post, Prada resolved the controversy to show such shoes, which closely from the traditional Kolhapuri Chapel without creating her Indian origin.

For Anward, Prada recently introduced a pair of footwear called ‘Tow Ring Sandals’, which resembles India’s traditional Kolhapuri slippers. These sandals were shown on 22 June at the Prada Mains Spring/Summer 2026 fashion show in Milan. However, the design was presented its Indian roots without any clear credit under the Label of the European brand.

In response, a public interest litigation (PLI) has been filed in the Bombay High Court, demanding compensation for Kolhapuri Chappal artisans whose work has been copied without acknowledgment.

Argile also said that Prada used traditional design in his latest collection. While the brand earlier stated that sandals were “inspired by traditional Indian handcraft shoes with a centuries -old heritage,” the controversy has created a debate on credit and cultural appropriation.

Criticism for striking equality between his sandals and traditional Kolhapuri Chappell -and almost Rs. 1 lakh -Prasuti responded with a statement of footwear with a statement recognizing the Indian roots.

Lorenzo Burteli, head of the head group of corporate social responsibility, said in a statement, “We admit that the recent Prada Men’s 2026 fashion shows are inspired by traditional Indian handcraft shoes, with a centuries -old heritage. We consider the cultural significance of such Indian craftsmanship.”
