Saif Ali Khan was injured during a burglary attempt at his Mumbai residence on Thursday, January 16, suffering six stab wounds. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital and underwent surgery. His actor-wife Kareena Kapoor and their children are safe.
Before the attack on Saif, on Wednesday, Kareena had a dinner date with her sister Karisma Kapoor and her close friends Sonam and Rhea Kapoor. The actress shared a glimpse of their dinner date. The caption read, “Girls Night In.”
In response to the unfortunate incident, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s teams issued statements.
The statement from Kareena’s team read, “Last night there was an attempted theft at the residence of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Saif suffered an injury to his hand for which he is in the hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is undergoing treatment.” Ok. We request the media and fans to remain patient and not speculate further as the police are already conducting their proper investigation. Thank you all for your concern.”
The official statement read, “An attempted theft was made at the residence of Mr. Saif Ali Khan. He is currently undergoing surgery in the hospital. We request the media and fans to be patient. This is a police matter.” “
The hospital has also issued a statement.
Lilavati Hospital COO Dr Neeraj Uttamani, while sharing information about Saif’s condition, confirmed that the actor was stabbed by an unknown assailant during a robbery. Saif suffered six knife wounds, two of which were particularly deep.
One wound was close to his spinal cord. Dr. Uttamani said that Saif was brought to the hospital at around 3.30 in the morning and a team of experts is treating him.
A source close to the actor revealed that Saif fought off the thief without any weapon, while attempting to protect his family during the early morning attack.
Police have started an investigation and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from around the house. The statement from Kareena’s team said that Kareena and her children are safe and secure.
