New Delhi: Actress Karishma Kapoor’s ex -husband, industrialist Sujay Kapoor died under shocking circumstances, allegedly after swallowing a bee during a polo match on 12 June. He is believed to have caused a deadly heart attack due to the response.
The Sujan Indian Tigers Polo Team paid a emotional tribute to their late team partner during the final of the prestigious Cartier Trophy in England.
A picture of Suzay, taken a few moments before the semi -final match, has gone viral on social media. In the image, he is seen smiling and posing with a friend, unaware that it will be one of his last moments.
The team posted on social media, “Today we play in the final of the Cartier Trophy in memory of our dear friend Sujay Kapoor, who died on the field a few days ago.” “Our captain and mentor, Jaisal Singh, will proceed with the team to inspect a minute’s silence in honor of his favorite old friend Sujay, and then sit as a mark of respect.”
The Euries Polo Club also shared its condolences, wrote: “The Aurous team is a total shock and completely. Sujay – You were the life and soul of the Aurian team. You were a true inspiration, and that heritage will remain forever.”
A minute’s silence was seen before the Cartier Trophy final match, which was played in the memory of Sujaya. Captain Jaisal Singh sat in the final in tribute to his close friend.
The Buenos Aires Polo community also mourned the loss, posting: “RIP Sujay Kapoor. He can rest in peace. Condolences to their family, friends and loved ones.”
Sona Comstar, where Suzay served as the Chairman and Non-Executive Director, issued an official statement: “It is deeply saddened that we announce the untimely passage of the Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Sona Commentar and Non-Executive Director Mr. Suzay J Kapoor, which after a sudden heart attack in England, UK on 12 June 2025, 53.”
According to an ANI report, Sujay was riding during the match when he accidentally swallowed a bee. The insect was reportedly recorded in his throat, which is believed to have caused irritation, causing a heart attack.
Sujay Kapoor made headlines for her high-profile wedding with Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor. The couple tied the knot in 2003 and had two children in 2016 before a widely promoted divorce – Samai and Kiana.
The divorce was marked by serious allegations from both sides. Karishma accused Sujay of domestic abuse and emotional trauma, while she claimed that she had married her for financial reasons. As part of the township, Karishma was awarded complete custody of her children, a house and financial aid in Mumbai.
