Karthik Aryan won the best actor for his transformative role in Chandu Champion, who also received the prestigious Best Film Award. Katrina Kaif took the best actress home for her intense performance at my Christmas. Mahavir Jain was the Binny and Family of Jain Films, which was a moving family drama, which earned the best family film award, while Anjini Dhawan was named Best Debutant Women for the emotionally resonant performance as Binny. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand was honored with the best director for his high-octane film ‘Fighter’, which was praised equally by the audience and critics.
But these were not just the names making headlines. The festival also honored several other Indian films, actors and filmmakers, which reflect the depth of contemporary Indian story, Seema and global appeal.
Built by Mahavir Jain, along with Acta Kapoor and Shashank Khith, Binny and family are a poignant depiction of a modern Indian domestic navigating love, tradition and change. It has Bindiya “Binny” Singh in her heart, played by debutant Anjini Dhawan, whose performance praised her calm vulnerability and strength.
