Chennai: Actor-Rajneeta’s Kamal Haasan expressed his heartfelt condolences after a stampede at the rally of TVK and actor Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu, who left 31 dead and many others were injured.
In a post on X, Kamal Haasan wrote, “My heart is shivering. The news coming from Karur causes a shock and sorrow. I am a disadvantage to words to express my deep condolences to those innocent people who lost their lives trapped in a crowd.”
He also urged that “the Tamil Nadu government to ensure that they were saved from the crowd, they get proper treatment and get proper relief to the affected people.”

According to officials, around 31 people were killed while 58 others were injured in the stampede.
In Vijay’s rally, a huge crowd became chaotic, nervous and a stampede. Many attendees fainted and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Sources said that crowds gave birth to a tragedy at the venue.
DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji, who reached Karur’s Government Medical College and Hospital following the Chief Minister’s instructions, said that MK Stalin will visit Karur to assess the situation on tomorrow (Sunday) and meet the victims and their families. He said that private hospitals have been instructed not to take charge from the injured and provide all necessary medical care.
