Kate Winslet reveals she underwent testosterone therapy to boost her ‘sex drive’ at 48: ‘You’ll feel sexy again…’

Kate Winslet has revealed how she regained her sex drive after turning 40. In a recent podcast interview, the famous Titanic star opened up about her experience with testosterone replacement therapy. Winslet, now 48, offered advice to a listener struggling with a similar problem, explaining that a loss of libido can often be linked to hormonal imbalances.

“Sometimes women’s libido can go down a lot because there can be something wrong with their thyroid,” the Heavenly Creatures fame said on the Sept. 10 episode of the Elizabeth Day podcast’s How to Fail. “There can also be something wrong with your testosterone levels,” she added, advising a listener curious about how to rekindle her sex life.

“A lot of people don’t know this, but women have testosterone in their bodies, and when it’s gone — like the eggs — it’s gone,” Winslet explained, when the listener raised concerns about losing her sex drive with her longtime boyfriend. “Once it’s gone, you have to replace it, and that’s something that can be done. You’ll feel sexy again … I know,” she added.

Kate, whose film Lea is set to hit theaters soon, has been a champion for women and has previously spoken out against body shaming and other issues. In addition, the acclaimed star advised callers to check thyroid and testosterone levels, as hormonal imbalances can affect emotions and desires, especially with age. “It’s not your fault, our bodies are weird and they behave in weird ways, especially as we get older,” she said.

Winslet added, “So maybe your hormone levels are dropping, which might be having a bigger impact than you think about having sex with your boyfriend, so I would definitely go ahead and do it.”

Women become ‘more attractive and sexier’ as they age

Winslet not only offered advice on increasing intimacy, but also celebrated aging and embracing body positivity. The actress challenged societal expectations for women in their 40s that suggest aging brings negative and monotonous changes, asking, “So what?”

You think you’re going into menopause and you’ll stop having sex, your breasts will sag and your skin will be horrible,” she explained. “First of all, so what? And second of all, it’s just conditioning.”

The actress emphasized that as women get older, they become “juicier, sexier” and more confident in their truth, adding that this empowerment is a beautiful thing. She often reminds her friends, “You look amazing.”

The drama “Lee”, based on the story of a woman who becomes a model-turned-war photographer during World War II, is set to premiere on September 27.
