Katy Perry joined the First All-Female Crew on Historic Blue Origin Spaceflight

New Delhi: Pop star Katy Perry, along with five other women, made history on Monday evening by becoming the first all-female crew to visit Jeff Bezos’s aerospace venture Blue Origin to visit the space edge.

The six-member tourism mission picked up the company’s reusable new Shepard-NS-31-from West Texas at 8:30 am (IST) at 8:30 am (IST).

“The new Shepard Booster has landed,” Blue Origin shared in a post on social media platform X.

“Capsule touchdown. Welcome, NS -31 crew,” the company said.

The 11th human flight lasting 11 minutes, for 11 minutes, flew above the Karman line – the limit of internationally recognized space.

In addition to Perry, the mission included NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioostronatics research scientist Amanda Naguyen, filmmaker Carian Flynn and journalists Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez.

According to Blue Origin, “This is the first all-female flight crew since the Solo Spaceflight of Valentina Tereskova in 1963.”

The mission is the second for the company this year. So far, Blue Origin has blown 52 people above the Karman line.

During the flight, the crew also conducted experiments.

Blue Origin said before the launch, “This NS -31 crew is starting on a mission to change its approach of the Earth and create a permanent impact that inspires future generations.”

Bowe, who is also the CEO of an engineering firm Stembober, conducted three research experiments, including studies on plant biology and human physiology – carrying forward their mission to detect space for Earth’s benefits.

Perry shared in a post, a video, on Instagram, on Instagram, in the first day, in a post, “I have dreamed of going into space for 15 years.”


“I am very honored to be with five other incredible and inspiring women because we have become all women’s flight space crew for the first time!” He said.
