New Delhi: Kavita Kaushik who has been quite popular on television for the past several years has decided to quit the TV industry due to regressive content. The actress who is best known for playing the role of Chandramukhi Chautala in a very popular show FIR has revealed how she is tired of getting offers of regressive content and has finally decided to quit television.
In an interview with TOI, sharing the reason behind her tough decision of not doing TV, Kavita said, “TV toh mujhe karna hi nahi hai. I cannot work for 30 days. I am open to doing web shows or films, but I am not a normal-looking heroine who can easily get all kinds of roles. There are only certain kinds of roles that suit my personality. I keep getting offered TV projects on demonic rituals like daayan (witch). But I cannot live the same life that I had three years ago when I was doing television full time. I am grateful for that phase but I was young and I needed money. But now, I cannot give that kind of time. In fact, even when FIR did not take much time, I used to complain.”
Talking about how backward TV has become today, he said, “That’s why I don’t want to be a part of it. There was a time when TV was progressive and we had different kinds of shows. There was variety and entertainment for everyone. But now, the kind of content we are showing is really bad for the younger generation to watch.”
Kavita faced a lot of criticism for making personal comments against Eijaz Khan in Bigg Boss 14. She walked out of the show during the open gate task as she said she was tired of the constant fights and negativity on the show.
