Kendrick Lamar shoots new music video under tight security in Compton: It’s a grand homecoming after Drake battle win

Kendrick Lamar’s grand homecoming plans are shaping up nicely after his Drake Battle victory lap, which culminated with the cathartic show of his Juneteenth “Pop Out” concert at the KIA Forum in Inglewood. After flaunting his victory in Drizzy’s face, singing his diss anthems and taking aim at him not once but five times, K. Dot is finally heading home to a new business.

Kendrick Lamar beefs up security for new music video shoot in Compton

The pioneering rapper will soon be filming a new music video in Compton, officials told the media outlet. His team has prepared all the documents with permits and proper approvals to ensure the project runs smoothly. Once the music video shoot officially begins, the LA County Sheriff’s Department will reportedly send deputies for extra security.

Though the team’s numbers are kept secret, TMZ has revealed that the “Pride” rapper’s production company is paying them $120 an hour.

Sources also said that LASD and other officials are hopeful that everything goes well going forward. The video is expected to showcase Compton’s overall aesthetic as a beautiful city, breaking away from the violent image used by crime and gangs for decades. Early details of the project are already distinguishing Kendrick’s efforts as a love letter to his hometown. It follows the example he set earlier this June when he attended Compton College for the first time since his war of words with Drake.

Addressing the Class of 2024 graduates, he gave an inspiring speech, praising Compton for what it “not only represents to the world, but it represents me.” “I still believe in Compton. Compton has always been the future to me. I think we produce some of the most incredible individuals, creators, intellectuals, geniuses,” he added.

The bitter feud between Lamar and Drizzy ended in May with the release of their final diss piece, “Not Like Us.” Still, officials are closely monitoring social media for any emerging drama. After forcing people to chant in unison in forums on Wednesday, he is back in the top 10 on global Spotify with “Not Like Us.” The same song also earned him a stunning return to the US Spotify chart.

The singer’s “Humble” single also topped Apple Music US, beating Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please.” Rubbing salt in Drake’s wounds, the Billboard charts also sided with Lamar after his song was released two months ago.

In an unrelated twist, the executive producer of the HBO show “Euphoria” has faced three serious incidents, including the shooting of one of his security guards.
