The Kerala High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Malayalam rapper Hiran Das Murali known as Vedan, alleging rape of false marriage promises. The order was given by Justice Usha Kurien Thomas, who clarified that the allegations of other crimes against the rapper were not under consideration in this special petition.
The case was filed by a doctor, who alleged that Vedan had befriended him through Instagram in 2021, and their relationship with time increased. He claimed that he had promised to marry her and under that assurance, Kozhikode, Kochi and other places between 2021 and 2023 were engaged in physical relations on several occasions.

The complaint also stated that the two lived together and provided them financial assistance, including their debut albums and money for travel expenses. Looking through a lawyer, the complainant opposed the bail argument, saying that Vedan had cheated other young women in the same way. However, the court said that each case should be treated independently.

Vedan’s lawyer argued that the relationship was agreed, began after contacting the complainant as a fan, and the complaint was the result of personal differences. The police had earlier issued a lookout notice for Vedan, fearing that he could try to leave the country, as he was absconding since the matter came to light.
The court initially gave him his final order on his argument and provided interim security from the arrest. This is not the first time 25 -year -old rapper has faced legal troubles. Earlier this year, the High Court granted him bail in a separate case, related to the possession of a leopard’s teeth. In April, he was also arrested along with others during a drug raid, although he was later released.

Vedan, which arose for fame under the banner ‘Voice of the Voyxon’, gained popularity for his socially conscious rap and contributed songs to hit films like ‘Naatu’, ‘Karam’ and ‘Manjmel Boys’. However, the current allegations have put a shadow on their career. The High Court’s decision to grant anticipatory bail is seen as a significant relief for the artist, even in some other similar cases investigation is under investigation.
