Kevin Costner has recently opened up about his decision to confirm his departure from Taylor Sheridan’s hit western series, Yellowstone.
While promoting his upcoming film Horizon: An American Saga, Costner explained why he now feels he must leave Yellowlife behind.
Costner, famous for his role as John Dutton in the popular series, announced last Thursday that he would not appear in the final episodes, which are set to air on November 10.
Costner won’t be there to see Yellowstone’s finale
He said, “I wanted to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that were required and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love, that I know you love too, I’ve just realized that I won’t be able to continue on for Season 5 or in the future.”
This comes shortly after Paramount Network revealed the premiere date for the final series, sparking speculation over whether Costner would return for the series finale.

Costner pointed out The Hollywood Reporter He said the decision to leave Yellowstone wasn’t difficult. “It wasn’t hard.”
“It was important to say, ‘Hey, OK, I don’t want to talk about this anymore. It’s time to move on.'”
Costner left Yellowstone because he ‘didn’t need the drama’
“I gave this thing five seasons,” Costner added.
“I’m very happy to have done it. And I don’t need drama. So, let’s put the drama aside, let’s put the speculation aside [away]The fans have been great to me. And I have an obligation to keep moving forward and keep making things that mean something to them.”
Costner shared his excitement for his next project, a large-scale, independently financed three-part Western epic. The first film, Horizon: Chapter 1, is scheduled to be released June 28, followed by Chapter 2 on August 16. Costner plans to make two more films in the series and has already begun filming Chapter 3, although he acknowledges the need for additional funding.

“If I stop making movies and don’t want to make any more, that’s my business. But if I choose to make movies, I have fans.”
Costner also expressed his thoughts on why Yellowstone fans might appreciate Horizon, saying, “Well, I’m not saying that they [going to like it]But what I am saying is that if I like it, I think they will like it too.”
