‘I can’t pay my outstanding bills’

“This week the house where I’m living in Baltimore is being foreclosed upon, my house is being sold at auction,” an emotional Spacey said during the interview. “So I’m going to have to go back to Baltimore and put all my stuff in storage. I don’t know where I’m going to live now. I’ve been in Baltimore since we started shooting ‘House of Cards’ there.”

When Morgan asked him why his home was being foreclosed on, Spacey said, “Because I can’t pay my outstanding bills.”

When asked if he was facing bankruptcy, Spacey said that though he had come close, he had managed to “dodge” it a few times. When Morgan asked him how much money he had now, Spacey replied, “None.”

“You know something about the legal bills. I still have a lot of legal bills that I haven’t been able to pay,” Spacey said, adding that he owes “several million” for fighting his accusers.

The House of Cards actor was accused by Anthony Rapp of having sex with him in 1986, when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26. “He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I didn’t panic at first, because I was thinking, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lay on top of me,” Anthony said in a BuzzFeed article.

“He was trying to seduce me. I don’t know if I would have used that language or not. But I knew he was trying to have sex with me,” she said.

Rapp subsequently sued Spacey. In the following months, at least 15 other people made similar allegations against Spacey.

However, last year a jury in a London court acquitted Spacey by a majority of the nine charges. He was accused of committing the crimes while working at the Old Vic Theater in London between 2004 and 2013.
