Mumbai: After the brutal rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, the whole country is demanding a change in law and order. Every Bollywood celebrity condemned this heinous act and expressed their concern for the safety of women.
Alia Bhatt, Twinkle Khanna, Shilpa Shetty and others questioned why strict laws are not implemented in the case of rape and safety of women while the country was celebrating its 78th Independence Day. And now Pushpa actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has spoken about the heinous crime that has shaken the entire nation. While attending an event recently, Sam was questioned about the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata where she said that change is the need of the hour.
Samantha said that now the time has come to give priority to the safety of women. “This is the need of the hour and we are really hoping for some changes. This is the need of the hour. I hope the change comes soon.”
Joining other celebs in condemning the act, Hrithik Roshan demanded harsher punishment for rape and other heinous crimes against women, “Yes we need to evolve into a society where we all feel equally safe. But that will take decades. Hopefully it will happen with sensitising and empowering our sons and daughters. The next generations will be better. We will get there. Eventually. But what in the interim? Right now justice must put a strict stop to such atrocities. And the only way to do that is with a punishment that is so harsh that it scares away such criminals. That’s what we need. Maybe?”.
At present, the CBI is investigating the case and all eyes are fixed on the fact that the culprits should get such a punishment that sets an example.
