The growing trend of Bollywood crafting ‘spiritual sequel’ – is more connected to the story by the theme and tone – its latest chapter has been found. Metro … in dinoAn Apterminal Successor for Anurag Basu’s 2007 Enconnected Hit A … life in the metroWhile the new film includes a completely fresh cast (except Konakona Sen Sharma, which returns to a different role), it still manages to preserve a subtle emotional thread that binds it back to the original.
And this relationship comes in the form of a small tribute to the late Irfan Khan – thanks for a thoughtful suggestion from Konakona himself.
Konkona pays Odd to Irfan Khan in Metro … in dino
In A … life in the metroKonakona played the role of Shruti, who navigated the world of Orange Marriage, which eventually falls for the bizarre and beloved Monty played by Irrfan Khan. In Metro … in dinoShe now plays a completely new character called Kajal -Opposite Pankaj Tripathi. But it is the name of Pankaj’s character that brings it a full cycle.
The character was originally not called Monty, in an interview director reveals director Anurag Basu Hindustan Times,
“The character was not called Monty. It was a suggestion of cocoa (Konkona).” Come on it, he said, “He said, and I said, ‘Yes, right”. It was the first day of the shoot. “
Konkona: “This is such a mindless character”
Konkona explained the intention behind his sweet suggestion, stating that Hindustan Times: “Because this is such a mindless type of character,” in the original, keeping in mind the similarity for Irfan’s prestigious performance.
Basu, however, clarified that when the name is a node, the character is different. “The character is very different, though. Just the name is the same,” he said.
Konkona said that both characters share a similar approach to love. “The whole track is humble,” he said.
A fresh cast, familiar feeling
Metro … in dino There is a contingent of artists including Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher. Although each story is new, the film promises to re -look at the emotional prosperity and urban relations that define the origin.
Directed by Anurag Basu, the film is scheduled for dramatic release on 4 July.
