Kritika Kamra opens up about playing the role in ‘Gyaar Gyaar’: ‘I want to move on…’

New Delhi: The series, which has already created buzz for its unique storyline as time goes by, will mark a new milestone in Kamra’s career. The actress, known for her versatility in playing varied roles, will be seen playing a police officer for the first time. In a recent interview, Kamra shared her experience of taking on this new challenge and the approach she adopted to strike the right balance in her portrayal.

Q.1. Lately you have been playing quite unusual roles, like a gangster in Bambai Meri Jaan and now a police officer in Gyarah Gyarah. What inspired you to play these complex roles?

Krutika said, “I want to grow as an actor. I have learnt this art on the job and I want to continue it. To achieve this, it is very important for me to push myself out of my comfort zone, not repeat the same role and play characters that are very different from my personality. This is why I am attracted to characters that are different from me or that I don’t get to do in real life. These aspects of the script challenge me and motivate me to take on these complex roles.”

Q2. Were there any specific aspects of your character that you found particularly challenging or rewarding to play?

Krutika said, “Since I am in both the past and the present in this show, the challenge was to look different and behave differently, but still feel like the same person. When you see Vamika in the past timeline, she is a young, nervous police officer who is eager to make her mark. In the present timeline, you see Vamika as an older, wiser, more confident leader of the team who now has an understanding of life and the system she works in. In both timelines, you can see how much she loves her job and wants to make her father and mentor proud. She has a very emotional journey in the show and always has to be in control of her emotions and the situation. Getting this inner life, but never showing it in her body language, was challenging and most rewarding. Layered writing allows you to make a character as human and real as possible, and this show gave me that.”

He also expressed gratitude for the role and said, “With Vamika, I got a bigger canvas to create a good personality with a rich personal and professional life. I am really grateful for the opportunity.”

Question 3. What do you think the audience will find most interesting in the interconnected stories and characters in ‘Gyaarah Gyaarah’?

Kritika Kamra said, “While reading the script, I was fascinated with how these characters are connected. My character Vamika, Yug and Shaurya have a constant connection, and she is unaware of it. As they say, the world is a small place. These characters wander in that world alone with each other, without knowing that there is something mysterious that connects them. And as a reader, I waited for them to find each other. And for their lives to get better because of this connection. I hope the audience supports them too.”

‘Gyaar Gyaar’ is a time-bending thriller that transcends time. The plot revolves around the reopening of a 15-year-old cold case, which leads to several surprising developments. Raghav Juyal plays Yug Arya, a police officer who discovers that he can communicate with a police officer from the 1990s, played by Dhairya Karwa, through a mysterious walkie-talkie.

This interesting twist sets the stage for an intriguing investigation, shedding light on the essence of time and the ability to reshape the present and future by altering the past.

Starring a stellar cast including Gautami Kapoor and Harsh Chhaya and produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor, ‘Gyaarah Eleven’ deals with themes of justice, time and human experience.

‘Gyaarah Gyaar’ premieres on 09th August on ZEE5!
