Kunal Kamra urged the ticketing platform to provide audience’s data or avoid removing it between disputes

Mumbai: Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has a bookmisho, who does not “delist” and shows him to provide contact information of his singles to his audience that the ticketing platform has collected so that he would “continue to live with dignity” and “work towards a fair livelihood.”

Taking X, he wrote, “Dear @Bookmyshow- I still don’t know if I have your platform or not. Below is a humble scene – I am not a fan of boycott for the audience or rating a private business … The book is well in their right to do my show best for my business”

In the note posted on X, Kamra wrote, “Dear Bookmyshow, I think you need to maintain a cordial relationship with the state, and I know that Mumbai is a major center for live entertainment. Without the cooperation of the state, prestigious shows such as coldplays and guns n ‘Gulab will not be possible. ,

“However, the issue in hand is not about whether you can give me or not – it’s about your special right to list our shows. Not allowing the artists to list their shows through their websites, you have effectively prevented me from reaching the audience that I have done from 2017 to 2025.”

He said, “You make a 10 percent cut of revenue for the listing shows, which is your business model. However, it is an important point: no matter how big or small the comedian is, we all are forced to spend between Rs 6,000 to 10,000 a day on advertising to reach our own audience. This cost is an additional burden that we, as we, should be, as”. ,

On data protection, he said, “While you can argue that data security is a concern, the question of who protects the data, and from whom, there is a very comprehensive conversation. What I am requesting is simple: Please make sure that you hand over the contact information of the audience collected from my solo show to survive and work with a fair livelihood.”

“As a single artist, especially in the world of comedy, we are both shows and production. For example, if I performed at the Pune Comedy Festival with 30 other artists, the collective data of the comedy would be considered.

“Keeping this in mind, I request one of the following: – Don’t make me delicate, or – provide me with your audience through your platform (contact information). Thanks to your understanding,” he concluded.

Earlier, young Shiv Sena general secretary Rahul N Kanal had formally written to Bookmisho, urging the ticketing platform that he should avoid the facility of ticket sale for the upcoming show of comedian Kunal Kamra. On April 2, the letter dated 2 highlighted the concerns on Kamra’s controversial content and its possible impact on public sentiment.

In the letter, Kanal said, “I, I am addressing this letter as a citizen of my personal capacity, who to bring to your attention, in terms of significant public interest about the operation of bookminds,” to add “This is to make my notice” for my notice, for the convenience of appearing with a person.

Kanal further criticized Kamra for his alleged campaign, which targeted the major public figures, including the Prime Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other notable personality of India.

He claimed, “These actions appear to be part of a broad criminal conspiracy, which are operated from the objectives that are beyond humor or satire.”

Kanal insisted that Kamra’s stimulating comments could provoke public mischief and disrupt social harmony, especially in Mumbai, a city known for its lively diversity.

This letter concluded with a strong appeal for Big Tree Entertainment and Bookmasho, “I honestly request that you refrain from publishing or promoting Mr. Kamra’s show on your platform. Continuing to facilitate ticket sales for their events can be considered as support for their divisive rhetoric, which can be for serious breeds and orders for public emotions,”

In a latest development, the Madras High Court on Monday extended interim protection from the arrest given to comedian Kunal Kamra till 17 April to stand-up.

Last month, Kunal searched for anticipatory bail of transit from the Madras High Court, claiming that he is receiving several threats after the satirical comments made during his show at Habitat Studios in Mumbai.

Comic sang a parody of a popular song ‘Bholi Si Surat’ from the Bollywood film ‘Dil Se Pagal Hai’. With the song this parody, he allegedly targeted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, causing many again against him.

After the controversy, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena Youth Group, the Yuva Sena, vandalized the Habitat Comedy site, where the show was shot.

The comedian, who has several run-in with the BJP-led center, has refused to apologize for his comment against Shinde. However, he has said that he will cooperate with the police.

“A recreation site is only one platform. A place for all types of shows. Habitat (or any other place) is not responsible for my comedy, nor does it have any power or control that I say or do.

Kunal also responded to threatening political leaders to teach a lesson in his official statement.

Kamra said that ‘the inability to joke at the cost of a powerful public person’ does not change the nature of her right.

He said that it is not against the law as far as his knowledge. “Our right to freedom of speech and expression can not only be used on powerful and rich, even if today’s media would have otherwise believed us.

The inability to take a joke at the cost of a powerful public person does not change the nature of my right. As far as I know, it is not against the law to make fun of our leaders and circuses which is our political system, “, his statement continued.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court has set a hearing on the plea of stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, demanding the harvesting of cedar filed against him by the Mumbai Police.

Kamra’s lawyer mentioned the case for immediate listing during today’s post-lunch session, and the court agreed to hear it on Tuesday.

The petition reportedly filed on April 5 challenges the FIR on constitutional grounds, arguing that this article violates Kamra’s fundamental rights under 19 and 21, ie, freedom of expression and right to life. Justice SV Kotwal and a division bench with Justice SM Modak will hear the matter.

Kamra’s legal representatives say their satirical performance, part of his show ‘Naya Bharat’, is a protected speech and you should not attract criminal prosecution.
