Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) condemned personal attacks that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran are facing after the release of their film Impuan,
In a social media post, the Federation said it welcomes creative criticism against the film.
“We welcome the criticism of the form and content of cinema. The form of an art can only develop through creative criticism. However, criticism should not be the amount of personal misconduct, and threatened regardless of political or religious affiliation. The cruelty of any true criticism has shocked the views of those who are working with those who are working with those.”

Citing a dialogue with the film – “You can destroy a man, but you can’t beat him” – the film body said “This is what the art and art community is always telling the world.”
Since the release of the film on Thursday (March 27, 2025), Mohanlal and Prithviraj have been at the end of criticism as well as the film has derogatory comments from right -wing social media accounts in the context of 2002 Gujarat Pogrome.
Earlier on Sunday, superstar Mohanlal issued a statement addressing concerns about the political and social themes of the film. The actor admitted that some of the aspects of the film harassed some of his fans and assured him that the team had decided to remove such references.
“I know some political and social subjects that were involved in unveiling ImpuanSecond part of Lucifer The franchise has created a lot of crisis among many of my loved ones, ”the actor wrote Facebook Post. As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that any of my films promote any political movement, ideology or hatred towards religious groups. Therefore, both me and Impuan The team expressed our honest regret for the crisis caused by my dear people, and we all take responsibility for it, with the feeling that such issues should be removed from the film, ”he wrote in Malayalam.

He said, “For the last four decades, this is you, the audience, who has been a part of my cinematic journey. Your love and faith is my strength. I believe that there is no Mohanlal beyond this,” he said.
Production team of Impuan Then announced that the film would go through amendment in response to the controversy. 17 scenes, including riot sequences and depiction of violence against women, were included. However, despite these “voluntary cuts”, the film’s producers continue to face oral attacks from right -wing organizations and leaders. On Monday, State Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) B.K. Gopalakrishnan removed a dispute called filmmaker Supriya Menon, Prithviraj’s spouse, an “urban Naxal”.
Meanwhile, Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian appreciated Prithviraj’s courage in making the film and said that the producers should also show courage to screen the entire film without re -edited.
Despite the backlash, L2: Empuran Got remarkable success at the box office, in its early weekends became a gross film of Rs 80 crore worldwide.
