L2: Impuran: Rajiv Chandrashekhar will not see Mohanlal starrer due to controversy

Thiruvananthapuram: The much -awaited Malayalam film ‘L2: Emperan’ starring Mohanlal has provoked intense political reactions and public debate after its release.

Kerala BJP President Rajiv Chandrashekhar recently shared his views on the film, saying that when he had not yet seen Imapuran, he enjoyed a complete prequel, ‘Lucifer’.

“I have not seen the film, I have seen the prequel of the film called ‘Lucifer’, it was a very good film. It was a thriller, I enjoyed the film. I am a great fan of Mohanlal,” he said while talking to Annie.

However, he said “I said that I am keen to see the sequel, but it is clear and I have said earlier that the position of the party is very clear that a film is a film. The film is not a history and hence everyone has the right, every Malayali has the right to watch the film to criticize it, to like it, to dislike it, to dislike it.”

Chandrashekhar insisted that the film should not be done much, whether it is positive or negative.

“Many people have disliked the film, some people have liked it and it is fine. What we have said is a film and people should not read it too much or should not be very low in it. In any event, without saying anything, due to business response, the manufacturers have decided to edit the film and submit it to the re -assumption. So I said.

Chandrashekhar said, “But given the controversies, I have decided not to watch the film.”

The BJP leader further said, “Somebody asked me if you are unhappy if Mohanlal will make such a film and I said that I am unhappy, if Pinaray Vijayan loves the film, he can see it 10 times, I have no problem and if someone dislikes the film, they really have the right to dislike and criticize.”

In contrast, the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, on 31 March, strongly condemned the hatred campaigns against the film, blaming the backlash in the context of an important historical massacre.

After watching the film, Vijayan wrote in a Facebook post, “The fact that the film has referred to one of the most cruel massacres in the country, which has ever angered the Sangh Parivar.”

He criticized the Sangh Parivar for using communal hatred campaigns to target Impuran, its artists and crew.

“These are the latest manifestations of fascist view,” he said, emphasized the importance of protecting freedom of expression in a democratic society.

The Chief Minister continued with a warning against the “violent call” to ban or destroy the condemnation of the Chief Minister, calling it a violation of democratic rights.

His social media post asked the filmmakers to deeply harass the growing trend of force, saying that the working strategy was the identity of totalitarianism.

Congress leader and opposition leader VD Satheson also joined the discourse, accusing the Sangh Parivar of distorting history.

“The Sangh Parivar thinks that freedom of expression means freedom for the constructions created in their favor.

Cinema is a group of artists, “he wrote in a Facebook post.

Sathasan emphasized that any attempt to distort or sensor a piece of art through dangers and humiliation was a sign of “radical failure”.

Despite the uproar, Impuran has got commercial success. The film broke the record by earning Rs 80 crore worldwide during its early weekends.

In response to criticism, the Emapuran production team announced that they would modify some scenes, including violent riot sequences and depiction of violence against women.

The film’s lead actor Mohanlal also addressed the controversy in a statement, admitting that some themes of the film created a crisis among some audiences.

“As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that any of my films do not promote any political movement, ideology or hatred towards religious groups,” Mohanlal expressed in a hearty post.

He assured the fans that the aggressive material would be removed, taking full responsibility for this issue
