A high-profile split recently caused a stir in Tinseltown. Music legend Sean “Diddy” Combs and his long-standing legal team, NYC powerhouse Grubman, Shire, Meiselas & Sacks, have gone their separate ways. Reports say Diddy was dropped by the law firm known for handling music’s A-list heavyweights, which is true. However, soon after, rumors swirled that the split was caused by none other than pop queen Lady Gaga, another client of the firm. This claim was vehemently denied by his legal team, who alleged they had no involvement in the matter.
Lady Gaga not a factor in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs being fired as lawyer
A spokesperson for the law firm told Page Six on Saturday, “The decision to separate from Mr. Combs was made proactively by the firm’s partners several months ago because they felt it was the right thing to do.” The statement comes after initial reports linked Diddy’s dramatic exit from his longtime law firm to Gaga, also a client of the firm, who issued the ultimatum.

Following a number of explosive allegations against the now disgraced artist Diddy, who has been charged with over five counts including sexual assault, assault, harassment and trafficking among other charges, several music A-listers such as The Weeknd, Usher, Drake, Kevin Hart and more have cut ties with him. Reports suggest that Combs was dropped by his law firm at least eight weeks ago due to the severity and volume of these allegations.
‘Lady Gaga is so big that it is impossible to lose her’
The first report said the “Poker Face” singer’s influence was ‘too big to risk losing.’ NewsNation reported Friday that the firm cut ties with Combs under pressure from Gaga, who reportedly hinted she would leave the company if they didn’t remove Diddy from their roster.

Concerned about losing its top-tier clients, the New York City law firm eventually decided to end its relationship with Combs, who had been its top client for over two decades. The decision was likely made due to concerns that Gaga’s exit could tarnish its well-earned reputation in the legal field.
Furthermore, renowned lawyer Allen Grubman is said to have a close relationship with the infamous musician. On the other hand, Combs has been off the radar after his homes in Miami and Los Angeles were searched over allegations of his involvement in sex trafficking.
A spokesperson for the firm addressed the report, saying, “Reports that this decision was the result of client pressure are not true.” The source also alleged that the claim that Gaga threatened to leave the firm “never occurred.”
This isn’t the first time companies have cut ties with the Bad Boy record producer. Most recently, a leaked CNN tape showed him physically assaulting his former partner Cassie Ventura, who accused him of sexual assault last November. Since then, Diddy has lost several major brand ambassador roles and studio affiliations. Earlier this month, New York Mayor Eric Adams requested that the controversial artist return the key to the city as a result of the viral clip.
