Apple TV+ on Wednesday released a trailer for its upcoming limited series. woman in the lakeStarring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. Produced and directed by Alma Har’el, the seven-part limited series is based on the 2019 novel by New York Times bestselling author Laura Lippman.
The creepy trailer begins with the voice of Ingram’s character, Cleo Johnson, who is seen posthumously talking to Maddie Schwartz (Portman), the woman who pulled her body out of the lake. The rest of the trailer leaves you shocked as we learn the secrets of who Maddie is and what she did to achieve her dreams of becoming a successful author.
“When news of a little girl’s disappearance spreads through Baltimore City on Thanksgiving 1966, two women’s lives are put on a deadly collision course. Maddie Schwartz is a Jewish housewife seeking to shed her secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Johnson is a mother navigating the political turmoil of Black Baltimore while fighting to provide for her family. Their separate lives seem parallel at first, but when Maddie focuses on Cleo’s mysterious death, a chasm opens that endangers everyone around them,” the official synopsis reads.

The series is produced by Crazyrose and Bad Wolf America. Harrell also executive produces alongside Christopher Leggett. Portman serves as executive producer alongside production partner Sophie Mas. Nathan Ross and the late Jean-Marc Vallee are executive producers for Crazyrose, and Julie Gardner is executive producer for Bad Wolf America. Lane Eskridge, Amy Kaufman, Boaz Yakin and writer Lipman are also executive producers.
