Lily Collins’s Emily in Paris renewed for sixth season

Washington: Netflix has renewed the popular romantic drama ‘Emily in Paris’ starring Lily Collins for a sixth season. The renewal comes less than three weeks after the fifth season premiered on the streaming platform and delivered strong viewership numbers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

WATCH: According to the outlet, the season garnered 26.8 million views worldwide in its first 11 days (155 million viewings divided by a running time of 5 hours, 47 minutes).

The season sees Emily (Collins) move to Italy, where she opens a satellite office for the marketing agency she works for in Rome. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she establishes a new romantic relationship there, but – spoiler alert – ultimately chooses to return to Paris.

Series creator Darren Star told The Hollywood Reporter about Emily’s decision, “She really chooses her life and her work in Paris, and that’s something she’s worked very hard to achieve.” “I think ultimately her heart was here and it made it clear to her the fact that she wants to be in Paris and she wants to be there, and it’s not a temporary thing,” he was quoted as saying by the outlet.

The star also hinted that season six may revisit the complicated relationship between Emily and chef Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo. While avoiding confirming the reunion, he suggested that the door would remain open for both characters to find their way back to each other.

She said, “I don’t think Emily and Gabriel will be… I don’t think it will be an immediate relationship, although I do believe people can find their way back to each other.”

The star also received an honor from French President Emmanuel Macron in December. He was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour), the highest civilian honor recognized by France.

Emily in Paris season 5 cast includes stars and creators Lily Collins (Emily Cooper), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Greteau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gauri (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Eugenio Franceschini.
