After Queen of Tears broke records, tvN’s latest original show Lovely Runner has taken the crown of the most talked-about drama of the week. This romantic time-slip series starring Byun Woo Seok and Kim Hye Eun is captivating viewers and is expected to continue to top the streaming charts for the rest of the month.
However, its popularity is not just limited to its interesting plot. Lovely Runner’s soundtrack has also become a mega hit, breaking all records for pre-ordered Korean OST albums.
Lovely Runner OST album pre-orders surge
There are only two things moving fast in the global K-drama fan community right now, one is the popularity of Byun Woo Seok and the other is Lovely Runner’s OST. On June 5, CJ ENM, a major entertainment and media department in South Korea, announced that pre-order sales for the tvN Original Series’ OST album had hit a historic milestone, setting a new record for the highest pre-orders ever for a Korean OST album. The company announced, “The pre-order volume far exceeded the production volume estimates.” However, the figures are currently kept secret.

The soundtrack of “Lovely Runner” features a stunning collection of 54 songs, offering a wide range of musical styles to enhance the appeal. Six of the infectious songs come courtesy of the drama’s fictional boy band, Eclipse, which consists of Ryu Sun Jae (Byeon Woo Seok), Baek In Hyuk (Lee Seung Hyub), Hyun Soo (Moon Zeon) and Jae (Yang Hyuk), with Baek In Hyuk playing the leader.

In addition to Eclipse’s upbeat songs, the soundtrack also includes 38 songs without lyrics, purely instrumental music, and 10 songs lent their voices by various established singers in the industry. Artists like ATEEZ’s Jongho and N.Flying contributed to the series’ showstopping OST album.
Speaking of talent, Byun Woo Seok himself has lent his voice to a song called Sudden Shower. The track achieved an unprecedented feat by making it to the Billboard 200, which is a rare feat for a Korean OST.

Sudden Shower, a song sung by Byeon Woo-seok, became a surprise hit for the fictional boy band Eclipse in the drama Lovely Runner. This self-composed track, written by the character Ryu Sun Jae, reflects on his first love, Im Sol (played by Kim Hye Yoon).
