King strongly believes that the increase in the number of venues will help emerging artistes showcase their talent as the focus will no longer be just on the big names.
Singer and rapper King, who recently launched his nationwide listening tour, says there is a need for better live performance venues for singers. “I want more and better venues for artistes. This will help the government raise revenue,” he says.
“I know the world is becoming very digital, everyone is virtual. Bahut achchi baati hai ki Covid nahi hai, toh ab max baaz kartaar agar live feel de paate aur fan ke wah aaye toh woh bahut achcha raha rahega (I know people are tech-savvy these days. But since the pandemic is over, it would be great if more and more artistes can perform live in front of an audience),” says the 29-year-old.

The Maan Meri Jaan singer elaborates on how venues help artists grow. “If there are fewer venues, the business behind them is seen. I know there are people who are willing to invite new talents, but since there are very few venues, everyone wants to invite artistes who can get them maximum business.”
The singer reiterated, “I want better places, better facilities and since it is arts and culture, it is a very good thing. A lot of talent will get a chance. A lot of talent is not given a chance.”
King is one of the first singers who introduced the concept of Listening Tour in India with his album Monopoly Moves. A listening tour is when an artist releases his album and performs for the first time in front of his audience and the music industry on the same day.
He says, “The concept of such a tour has started in India only in the last 3-4 years, otherwise there are only shows. The day my album released, I performed it in Delhi with my fans and friends from the industry.”
“So basically a listening session is when you allow your fans to listen to your music and lower the exclusivity bar, which is only for industry people. Artists perform in front of you in real time when the album is releasing. The real time energy that is created is something different,” he concludes.
