Filmmaker Dinesh Vijan’s production banner Maddock has announced new and returning titles in its ambitious horror-comedy universe including “Stree 3”, “Munjya 2”, “Shakti Shalini”, “Chamunda” and “Pehla Mahayudh”.
The announcement comes days after Ayushmann Khurrana started shooting for “Thamaa”, the latest chapter in Maddock Films’ horror comedy universe. The actor will play the role of a vampire in the film, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
The first film from the production banner to release in theaters on Diwali 2025 is “Thamaa”, followed by “Shakti Shalini” on December 31. Two films will be released every year. “Bhediya 2” and “Chamunda” will hit the theaters in 2026 on August 14 and December 4, respectively.
Fan favorites “Stree 3” and “Mahamunjya” will release in 2027 on August 13 and December 24. The production banner is also coming up with “Doosra Mahayudh”.
Vijan said his aim is to churn out grand cinematic stories rooted in Indian culture in a horror-comedy multiverse.
“Our mission at Maddock has always been to innovate and entertain. We have created engaging characters based on India’s rich culture and heritage that resonate with the audience. This deep connection has made our stories not only relevant, but also meaningful.
“Furthermore, with a passionate and dedicated fan base, we are now setting the stage for something even bigger: a cinematic universe that brings unforgettable characters and their stories to life like never before. We look forward to taking audiences on this journey.” Can’t wait to take it to 2028 and beyond – and we’re just getting started,” the filmmaker said in a statement.
Key details about the new list of films, such as the cast and director, except “Thama” have not been announced yet.
The horror-comedy universe began with the 2018 “Stree” starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. Its success gave birth to Vision’s horror-comedy universe, which now boasts titles like “Roohi”, “Bhediya” and “Munjya”.
“Stree 2” was the biggest and only major Hindi hit of the year in 2024, earning more than Rs. 500 crores. With a relatively new cast, “Munjya” also performed well commercially and reportedly grossed over Rs 130 crore worldwide.
